Float Ball Working Mechanism
Hollow space or solid filled materials that are suspended at the end of a lever in a cistern, tank or a boiler that mostly used to regulate the level of a liquid and mostly water are generally referred to as float balls. When purchasing float balls, different shapes are available in the market where one can select from including spherical or cylindrical shapes. Float balls which have a hollow space inside helps enhance their buoyancy in water or any other liquid so as to determine the liquid level. Float balls that have been filled by solid material made of plastic or other material whose density should be lower than that of the liquid to enhance buoyancy are also used to determine the liquid level. Switch mechanisms together with the translucent fluid-tubes can also employ the float ball mechanism in monitoring the fluid level. The buoyancy principle where different densities between the float ball and the fluid helps in controlling and monitoring the fluid level is a major principle that float ball mechanism applies.
There is a major type of float ball referred to as stainless steel float balls. Stainless steel is an alloy of steel made up of about 10% chromium which is hard and brittle metal and able to resist tarnishing and high temperatures because of its very high melting point. Stainless steel is preferred to ordinary steel as it does not rust or corrode easily. Stainless steel float balls are quite recommended to be used where there is high pressure as well as high temperatures in any liquid and they also provide maximum buoyancy. The great strength as well as durability of stainless steel float balls together with their ability to resist corrosion makes it possible to use them in controlling and monitoring the fluid levels. Stainless steel float balls are more viable for use in any setting mostly the commercial setting since their great qualities makes them cost efficient.
Monitoring and control of liquid levels by float ball system where it has a valve that is able to close the flow of a liquid once the required level has been attained and they work accurately and be relied on. A float ball, a valve and a stem which connects the float ball and the valve are the major components of a float ball mechanism. The valves help stop the flow the liquid into the cistern, tank or a boiler as the stem rises and creates a tight seal. When the level of a liquid decreases in the cistern, tank or a boiler, the float ball drops opening up the valve allowing more fluid to get in while the float ball rises as the fluid level rises until the required level is attained where the valve closes.
